Airports

Despite being a small country, the Netherlands is well-connected by air to Europe and the rest of the world. Its five civilian airports means that travelling for business or pleasure is a effortless, as there will always be an airport near you.

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol

As one of the five busiest airports in Europe, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is always full of the hustle and bustle of international and domestic travellers. The airport is located in the municipality of Haarlemmermeer and is easily reached by public transportation. There is a direct train link between Schiphol’s own train station and Amsterdam Central Station, while connections to The Hague only take 30 minutes.

At Schiphol, you have your pick of airlines. The airport is a hub for several local and international airlines including KLM, Corendon Dutch Airlines, Martinair, and Tui as well as budget airline favourites EasyJet and Vueling.

Rotterdam The Hague Airport

Located in Rotterdam and serving both Rotterdam and The Hague, this airport is the third largest in the Netherlands. If you’re looking to fly budget within Europe, Rotterdam The Hague is for you, with Transavia, CityJet, British Airways, TUI, Jetairfly, and Vueling all operating from there.

There are easy public transport links to this airport from The Hague: take metro line E to Slinge until Meijersplein, and the 33 bus will take you directly to the airport.

Eindhoven Airport

Eindhoven Airport is the second largest airport in the Netherlands (though at approximately 90 minutes by train, it’s comparatively far from The Hague.) Transport links are available to the airport from Eindhoven train station. Though the journey is slightly longer, Eindhoven Airport is ideal for budget travel: Ryanair, Wizz Air, and Transavia all operate out of this airport.

Maastricht Aachen Airport

Maastricht Aachen Airport is located in the municipality of Beek in the south of the Netherlands. This airport serves the Meuse-Rhine Euroregion, with flights operated by Corendon, Ryanair, and Enter Air. The airport is accessible by bus, with lines running from the Maastricht train station and a bus connection to and from Schiphol that’s operated by KLM.

Groningen Airport Eelde

Groningen Airport Eelde in the north-east of the Netherlands offers budget flights to various destinations in Europe. The airport also offers sightseeing flights for tourists. You can reach Groningen Airport Eelde by taking the number 9 bus from Groningen’s central station.
