Wassenaar joins The Hague International Centre
On 9 May the deputy mayors of The Hague Mariƫlle Vavier and Wassenaar Laurens van Doeveren have officially signed an agreement to cooperate in The Hague International Centre. The Hague International Centre offers shared services to international residents and companies in The Hague, Delft, Rijswijk, Leidschendam-Voorburg and now Wassenaar.
One in five residents of Wassenaar is an international. Wassenaar is the international village of the region with 40 residences, the American Embassy, American School and Rijnlands International School of Wassenaar. Many employees of The Hague-based multinationals and international organisations such as the International Criminal Court and NATO live in Wassenaar. The new cooperation follows the new policy Nota Internationals of the municipality of Wassenaar.
The new partnership will enhance the support for internationals living and working in the region. This collaboration aims to provide newcomers with essential information, guidance, and services to help them settle and integrate smoothly. The municipal registration of international newcomers will remain in Wassenaar. Internationals can access the IND services, information and events. Through working together, we will strengthen the commitment to making the region a welcoming place for internationals.
