The Hague indoor activities

Indoor activities

Published

It takes time to ease into living in The Hague, and even more to experience all it has to offer. Worry not, as a brief ride will allow to easily discover plenty of picturesque places. However, with the weather as notoriously uncooperative as it is here, outdoor adventuring is not always the prefered option. Thus, below we've compiled some inspiring, educating, entertaining and thrilling indoor activities.

Culture

First of all – fall in love with DenHaag.com, and their event calendar!

Museums and galleries

For the list of various museums and galleries check our page on culture. In addition, several times a year, Hoogtij organizes cultural tours in The Hague. They have prepared a lovely map of almost 30 galleries around the city centre and, in general, are a great source of arts events.

Cinema

Of course you’ve heard of Pathé cinemas, but have you already discovered Filmhuis Den Haag, Theater Dakota, TransitieCinema and Filmhuis Lumen? Finally, Omniversum showcases exciting and educational documentaries on a massive 180° dome screen.

Theatre

The Hague also offers a great array of theatre. STET English Theatre is the only professional theatre in the Netherlands with exclusively English programme. Anglo-American Theatre Group is an excellent amateur theater, while Frankophones will enjoy  L'Autre Pays du Theatre. A more extensive list of available theatres in The Hague can be found on Theatres in The Hague.

TEDx

Technology, entertainment and design combine into "ideas worth spreading". TEDx doesn't require much introduction, but the talks held there cover almost every topic. TEDx in The Hague events are planned and coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis, under a free license from TED.

Sea life

As entertaining as it is educational, Sea Life Scheveningen allows not only to view, but also to touch, feel and discover what lives in our coasts. Learn about conservation, sea habitats and a variety of creatures living there.

Active

Uithof centre

Probably the single place boasting so much active entertainment under a single roof, Uithof can easily occupy you for a whole day - ice rink, ski slope, kartings, bungee soccer, laser tag, airsoft and so much more.

Climbing

Beginner and experienced climbers in The Hague will find the largest bouldergym in the Netherlands at the Campus, and the only ice climbing wall in the Netherlands at one of the klimmuur locations!

Shooting

If laser tag or airsoft are too clean of a sport and you'd just like to get smeared in paint while letting the steam off, this venue offers indoor paintball sessions.

Board games

Haven't yet met people commited to a board game? Your inner nerd longs for a good D&D immersion? Carefully selected trading cards or meticulously painted figurines have been gathering dust without action? In that case you will surely want to visit the Tabletop Kingdom

Arcade

Gamestate in the Grote Markt has more than 60 arcades to play and is equally a laid back and a rather venturesome place, inspiring hours of entertainment. Just keep in mind - don't hate the player, hate the game.

Minigolf

These minigolf premises located in Scheveningen come with an unexpected feature - they glow in the dark. Glowgolf is themed around life at sea and pirates and offer a challenging and unique experience. In addition, just nearby you'll find the largest mirror maze in the Netherlands.

Trampoline

A fun and healthy session on 40 connected trampolines at the nearby TRIXS park is a great place to spend a day polishing your somersault skills. Or, if you're willing to take a 15 minute ride out of The Hague to Warmond, Jump XL has a craftily equipped gym not only with various trampolines, but also with obstacles and other entertainment.
