New salary thresholds for 2020

The Dutch Immigration Authorities (IND) have announced new salary thresholds for foreign employees, effective from 1 January 2020. These changes affect both new applications and requests for extension. 'Foreign employees' include Highly Skilled Migrants using the 30% ruling, Blue Card holders and Graduates.

The following thresholds apply to new applications and extensions received by the IND on, or after, 1 January 2020.

Please note: these do not include holiday allowances, and are based on gross monthly income.

Applicants over 30

The monthly salary threshold for those who are 30 or older is €4500 in 2019 and will be indexed to €4612 gross, per month, excl. holiday allowances.

Applicants under 30

The monthly salary threshold for those younger than 30 is €3299 in 2019 and will be indexed to €3381 gross, per month, excl. holiday allowances.

Graduates

The monthly gross salary threshold for those who have graduated from a Dutch higher educational institution (or from an approved international educational institution) and who are taking up employment within three years after graduation is currently €2364. This will be indexed to €2423 gross, per month, excl. holiday allowances.

Blue Card

The monthly gross salary threshold for Blue Card applications is now €5272 and will be indexed to €5403 gross, per month, excl. holiday allowances.
