The Hague Justice Week 2026
In a rapidly changing world, cooperation, accountability, and peaceful conflict resolution matter more than ever. As the International City of Peace and Justice, The Hague brings together people and institutions working to advance these values through law, diplomacy, and international cooperation.
From 16 to 20 November 2026, The Hague Justice Week 2026 will take place. A week dedicated to exploring the future of peace, justice and international law. This year’s theme, “80 Years and Beyond: Renewing the Promise of Peace and Justice through Law'' is inspired by the 80th anniversary of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which held its inaugural sitting at the Peace Palace in The Hague on 18 April 1946. Rooted in The Hague, but extending far beyond the city, The Hague Justice Week takes place across multiple venues in The Hague, at partner locations throughout the Netherlands and online.
Whether attending in person or remotely, visitors can engage with a diverse programme and connect with the global community working to advance peace and justice.
Looking back and ahead
The anniversary offers an opportunity not only to reflect on eight decades of international justice, but also to consider what peace and justice through law mean today and how they may need to develop in the years ahead.
Throughout the week, participants will be invited to explore topics connected to international law, accountability, cooperation and the rule of law. The programme is designed to create opportunities for people from different sectors and backgrounds to exchange ideas, learn from one another and consider how international cooperation can respond to contemporary challenges.
A week taking place across The Hague and beyond
The Hague Justice Week is not centred around one single conference or venue. Instead, it is an open, hybrid platform made up of independently organised activities taking place at different locations in The Hague, at partner locations elsewhere in the Netherlands and internationally, as well as online. This means participants will be able to join activities both in person and remotely.
The programme is expected to include discussions, lectures, workshops, exhibitions and cultural programmes, networking opportunities and educational activities. Activities are intended for a broad audience, including professionals working in peace and justice, international organisations, students and the wider public.
For internationals living in The Hague, the week is also an opportunity to discover more about the organisations and people behind the city's role as the International City of Peace and Justice, while connecting with the wider international community.
Why The Hague?
The Hague is home to an extensive network of international courts, tribunals, international organisations, knowledge institutions and other organisations working on peace and justice. The Hague Justice Week brings different parts of this community together and provides a platform for dialogue, collaboration and public engagement around the future of international law and cooperation.
The week is an initiative of the Municipality of The Hague and The Hague Humanity Hub, working together with partners from the city's peace and justice ecosystem.
